New York Islanders sign veteran forward Matt Cooke

NEW YORK — The New York Rangers announced today that they have signed defenseman Matt Cooke to a one-year contract through the 2021-22 season.

The Rangers have also signed goaltender Ben Scrivens to a two-year entry-level contract through 2021-23.

Cooke has appeared in five games for the Rangers this season, posting a 3.38 goals against average and .929 save percentage.

The 23-year-old Scrives appeared in 10 games with the Islanders last season.

The Islanders are in search of their second win of the season and first since April 6.

Cooke played two seasons at Boston College from 2008-09 to 2012-13, posting 10 goals and 12 assists in 68 games.
